Remko van Dokkum

Like many people, I’ve always been fascinated by Astrology.  Something about looking to the heavens for answers, and wondering if our lives are preordained or governed by some force outside ourselves…I love the wonder and the mystery of it.

Now, I have to say, I’m not one- hundred-percent a believer. I have quite the skeptical side. Ok, well, I’m probably more believer than skeptic, but I do question a lot 😛

I lean more toward the believer side of the scale because my personality fits the astrological description of my birth sign so snugly.  Allow me to clarify…

I’m a Sagittarius

Those who know me can vouch for my honesty – sometimes brutal in both its delivery and directness – my integrity, my loyalty, and my strict sense of right and wrong.

And, those same people would also fall over themselves to tell you of my irresponsibility, my spontaneity, and my child-like curiosity for everything around me.

I’m very open-minded, sometimes to the point where my focus is so broad, I can’t take in all that I’m trying to see. I strongly believe that everything should be fair, but sometimes in trying to affect all this fairness, I invariably forget someone (most of the time, myself). I love to be social, as long as I’m not the center of attention or  the hostess 😛

Now let’s see what the stars say about me:

Dear Sagittarius, you are strong-willed, gregarious, and fun-loving. You can also be a diplomat when it is in your own interests. (What! How very self-serving of me) With your sharp mind and ability to go straight to the heart of a matter, you are excellent at problem solving (that’s right). If inspired, you may need to express yourself in a creative way and seek recognition through the worlds of theater, art, music or writing (well, how ’bout that?). When overly confident or moody, avoid being cynical or using your sharp tongue to create tension or disputes.

Positive Traits: Knowledgeable, Responsibility to Home & Family, Integrity, Intuitive, Social, Cooperative, Insightful

Negative Traits: Worrier, Never satisfied, Irresponsible (See? Told ya), Opinionated (Who? Me?), Skeptical (Called it!), Fussy (haha), Irritable, Unsympathetic

Well *cough* that was a bit more painful than I expected.

Oh, and I have the same birthday as Jane Austen – nanananananaaaa  😛

So talk to me. What’s your sign? Describe the similarities or differences between yourself and your sign in the comments below. What do you think about Astrology? Are you a believer, a skeptic or both?

  1. I’m a lot like my sign. I’m a Taurus, the bull :-D. I can be stubborn, dependable, everything an earth sign should be. They say my strengths are: Dependable, persistent, loyal, patient, generous. Weaknesses: stubborn, lazy, possessive, materialistic, self-indulgent. Yes, that probably does about sum things up. I like to be surrounded by nice things, nice areas. They really do make me smile and make a happy place for me. I’m perfectly fine doing things on my own and being alone which is a good thing, being a writer.

The only thing I don’t agree with in my sign is they say Taurus doesn’t like change. I don’t mind change at all… it doesn’t make me worried. As long as I know it’s coming, I actually sometimes welcome it. I suppose if I institute the change myself I’m ok with it, if someone else does maybe not so much?

My dad is an Aries, and we were every bit the bull meeting the ram when I was growing up 🙂

  2. I don’t know much about astrology. I’m a Tauras, We’re stubborn and that’s about all I know 🙂
Not sure how much truth there is in star signs.

    1. I’m by no means an expert, but I do find astrology very interesting. Stick around, Emma – this post was so much fun that I’m going to start a series on the signs. Let me show you the way.. 😛

  3. I’m Libra, which is balance in everything. Everything must be fair (so, life can be pretty disappointing sometimes). It also makes me indecisive. A quick search brought me this:

    Good traits:
    Diplomaitic and urbane
    Romantic and charming
    Easygoing and sociable
    Idealistic and peaceable

    Bad traits:
    Indecisive and changeable
    Gullible and easily infuenced
    Flirtatious and self-indulgent

Yep yep and all around yep 🙂 I read my horoscope most days, but they’re always so vague that I take it with a grain of salt.

  4. I’m confused. LOL. I seem to walk the line. I am an Aries because the doctor had my mother come in early so that he wouldn’t miss his fishing trip. If allowed to go to term I would have been a Taurus. I show traits of both signs, hence the confusion. 😉 If I read the horoscopes, I read both and pick the one I like the best. Hahaha!

  5. Oh yah, I’m definitely a libra. I need balance. If something in my life is out of wack, it affects me everywhere. I can’t easily shut off one mode to another. When work sucks, I feel crappy at home. When my relationship is rocky, I am very private at work.

But on a plus, the judicial side of me makes me a great friend. I can usually picture both sides of a problem (for others at least, if not myself) and help give sound advice. And that’s been true my whole life. I’m always the person people tell their problems too. They trust me. A trait I’m proud of, but have to be careful of that I’m not taken advantage of. I also think I can do everything! LOL.

  6. I’m an Aries. Of course! Aries is the first sign of the zodiac for a reason, because we’re the best. That’s really all I need to know about my sign. 🙂

Actually everything I’ve read about my zodiac sign I’ve been like, yep, that’s me. Except I always read that red is my power color and really it’s pink. But pink is a derivative of red, so maybe that’s what they meant.
